1) A slippery slope?

What would surfing be without the waves? What would rugby be without the rugby ball? What would happen to skiing if there was no snow?

Skiing is a sport I've recently taken to, and as an Earth-appreciating, sport-loving geography undergraduate, I'm well aware that skiing is a sport at risk. Human activities result in increased pollutants such as carbon dioxide being emitted into the Earth's atmosphere, which leads to abnormal changes in climate, above what would occur naturally.

Over the next few weeks, I'm planning to focus this blog on the effects that this climate change is having on skiing conditions in the French Alps. I'll also look at a few local impacts of weather changes, and use a little bit of personal experience to think about where we are now.
